Phil McGowan - Steward

Odessa, FL

Visionary, product design, and marketing.

Three years ago Phil recognized a void in the marketplace for a more classically masculine men's accessory company that also represented a more authentic, and principled lifestyle.  After initially being told that manufacturing in China was the only way to effectively compete in this market, Phil has seen quite the contrary come to pass.  In his search to find the best in integrity and craftsmanship, he didn't have to go any farther than Albion, Idaho, .... Kalispell, Montana,...... and a little shop in Mt Hope, Ohio.

We went looking for the highest quality leather works the country had to offer, and we're convinced we found it in a fourth generation, family owned, Amish leather shop in Mt. Hope, Ohio.

World renowned for quality craftsmanship, the Amish's handcrafted techniques and absence of automated factory processes has delivered the authentic, organic, and rugged product that is congruent with the KD brand.
......also, we just REALLY liked a place called "Mt. Hope, Ohio".

Bob Murphy - Sculptor

Albion, Idaho

Bob was born in Wilmington,  Delaware and graduated at the University of Delaware in 1981 with bachelor degrees in Art and Animal Science.  He worked as a model maker and sculptor at The Franklin Mint from 1982 to 1996.  He always loved the West, so when his two  girls, Meaghan and Nora were school age, he and his wife moved to the little town of Albion (pop. 263), in the southern most tip of the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. He now works as a free-lance sculptor and designer for a local taxidermist, and his wife Cheryl is a Special Education teacher at the local grade school.
Bob is pictured here with his dog "Hotom" which in Cheyenne means "dog".
